Alternative for the ball bearings
Proposal of an alternative with plastic OILES bearings
OILES Glitron S and Glitron SE are materials with unparalleled high-speed characteristics as plastic plain bearings. Using Glitron SE capable of preventing electrification, standard products (GSB, GSF) have been marketed in the same sizes as miniature bearings.
OILES Glitron S and Glitron SE also feature extremely high heat resistance and chemical resistance. As with the sintered bearings, durability of the ball bearings tends to depend greatly on the grease and lubricant. GSB and GSF are applicable to the areas where the ball bearings are not easily used.
Notes for design
Advantages
- High mass-productivity by injection molding and capable of cost reduction.
- Thermoplastic resin contributing to weight reduction.
- GSB and GSF are readily deliverable because of many standard products in stock.
- More compactly customizable than miniature bearings unless you are particular about the shape.
Notes for design
- GSB and GSF are plain bearings and require a clearance between the shaft and bearing.
- A recommended clearance is approx. 0.05 mm.
- To ensure higher performance, the surface roughness of the mating shaft is recommended to be 3.2 S or less.
